Separation anxiety in puppies and anxiety in general can be severe to moderate. Whatever degree of separation anxiety, it is hard to think of the emotional pain your dog is going through.
My dog cried, whined, scratched and chewed all day, just because he missed me. I didn't even know that! He was not left alone alot, but I had to go to work, and many times I left him with others. He wanted none of that, all he wanted was me.

Well, after that, it got worse, he would jump on me, didn't want me to leave. I started crating him, he hated his crate. Then he started destroying and chewing on things. Well, that was it, my sanity was drawing near to an end with him.
I found many times before I left the house, he would stop and stare at me and then pee on the floor, just because I guess. What a mess, he was becoming a terror!.
